Microsoft Edge is having A Web Search Sidebar

Google Chrome has a feature that’s very useful to me on my day-to-day. If I need to search for a specific term on a webpage, I can simply right-click and choose Search Google for that term.

Microsoft Edge has a feature similar to it, just called Search web for when you right-click the highlighted term you want to search.

It opens the search results page for that term on the default search engine set in the browser.

What’s coming is something new called Search in sidebar in addition to the Search web for.

What it does is to open the search result in the sidebar without leaving the current page to open another new tab.

I would say it’s pretty cool and even more useful. You can simply click the Open in new tab button to open the search page on a new tab if needed.

The only catch is, it only uses Microsoft Bing, rather than the default search engine.

The new Search in sidebar is only available in both Dev and Canary channels but hasn’t made its way to the stable release yet. So, if you’d like to have a taste of it, you will need to use Dev or Canary copy from the Edge Insider Channels.
